What is pyJigdo? ¶

pyJigdo is an initiative to implement Jigsaw Downloading http://atterer.net/jigdo/ in python and tie it in closely with Open Source infrastructure such as MirrorManager.

What is needed? ¶

We need python developers that are interested in the concepts that Jigdo provides with a strive to make the concept support different file system types, data types and generally improve the status of Jigdo as a primary method for distribution of FOSS "Spins". The primary coding effort is currently focused to make an amazing python based client that will replace jigdo-lite. There is also a code in the works to assist a user in easily generating Jigdo definitions.

What is planned?

• Implement backwards compatible functionality for the official jigdo code.
  
• Implement support for additional file systems, such as squashfs, unionfs and others.
• Build an amazing GUI that provides advanced functionality to the fingertips of end users.
• Much more to come.
